Modern Asphalts magazine reports that Highways Authority Engineers are able to get on top of Pot Hole problems with Colas’s Colpatch cold Asphalt product that is made using Macfix® technology. Colpatch has the unique ability to be delivered and stored for long periods of time and can be applied in ‘all weathers ‘ without detriment to the filling material. The Pothole repair’s have been known to remain in place for not just months but years.

Macfix® in Australia...
August 2009 - Australia
July and August 2009 saw the first productions of Cold Asphalt in Australia using the Macfix® additive technology; the first mixing trials were carried out on Boral’s Pilot Plant in Canberra CT. The entire team involved at Boral from HQ & the Materials Laboratory at Seven Hills NSW was led by Trevor Distin and with crucial contributions from the technicians and operatives the finished Cold Asphalt was reproduced containing all the Special features as advertised.
Boral named the new product PPR and Warren Marshall the Sales Account manager for NSW has since been busy dispatching the Cold Asphalt for trials and evaluation. It is expected that the Licensing procedure shall be finalised by the end of January 2010.
PPR Is a Pre-mixed, high performance permanent cold Asphalt patching material made under license using Macfix® technology from Macismo International Ltd. The product consists of a mixture of selected aggregates coated with a blend of bitumen and Macfix® additive which has been specially formulated to enhance the workability of the mix during handling and to improve the adhesion properties of the binder.
